Terms of Service
English·Česky
Effective from 04-09-2026. Last updated 04-09-2026.
These Terms govern access to and use of HELP ME RETIRE, including the public wall, notes archive, donations, and related features. By using the Service or completing a payment, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Notice.
If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the Service, make a payment, or submit a note.
1. Operator
HELP ME RETIRE is operated by Jakub Koudela, company ID 19510951, address Vincence Bednáře 448, 696 11 Mutěnice, Czech Republic ("Operator", "we", "us").
The Operator is not a VAT payer.

2. What HELP ME RETIRE is
HELP ME RETIRE is a personal internet project where people can voluntarily contribute money toward a public retirement goal.
You may optionally attach a short name and message to your contribution. If approved, your message may appear on the public sticky-note wall and in the notes archive.
The retirement goal, progress percentage, forecasts, dates and other visualisations are part of the project's humorous presentation.
They are not a pension, investment, savings product, financial plan, financial service, charitable collection, or promise that the Operator will retire.
This is not a charity.
Contributions are not charitable donations for tax purposes and are not tax-deductible.
A payment does not purchase investment, financial, legal, tax or retirement advice, goods, ownership, membership, status, guaranteed exposure, a particular position on the wall, or any particular result.
The purpose of a payment is to contribute to the HELP ME RETIRE project and have that contribution recorded on the public counter.
3. Donations and messages
A name and message are optional.
You may make a contribution without submitting either.
If you submit a message, you understand that it is intended for possible public display.
Messages are subject to automatic moderation and, where necessary, manual review.
A successful payment does not guarantee that a submitted message will be published.
We may reject, hide or remove a message in accordance with these Terms.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a contract.
If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.
You may not use the Service where applicable law prohibits you from doing so.
5. Payments
Payments are processed in US dollars through Stripe.
We do not collect or store your full payment-card details.
Stripe processes the payment and may apply its own terms and privacy policies.
A contribution is recorded only after successful confirmation of payment.
The amount displayed on HELP ME RETIRE may therefore differ temporarily from the amount displayed by your payment provider while a payment is pending or being processed.
6. Refunds
Contributions are generally final and are not refundable.
By making a contribution, you understand that you are voluntarily contributing money to the HELP ME RETIRE project.
Submitting a message does not constitute the purchase of a guaranteed publication service.
If a message is rejected, hidden or removed because it violates these Terms or requires moderation, the contribution itself remains valid and is not automatically refunded.
We may issue a refund at our discretion, including where required by applicable law, where a duplicate payment occurred, or where a technical problem prevented the contribution from being properly recorded.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or waived.
Where a refund is issued, it will generally be processed through the original payment method and payment provider.
7. Withdrawal / cooling-off rights
If you are a consumer, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within the applicable statutory period.
The Service may begin immediately after successful payment. Before completing payment, where required, you will be asked to expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge the applicable legal consequences of that request.
Where applicable law permits the withdrawal right to end once the digital service has been fully performed, you acknowledge that consequence when giving your express request for immediate performance.
Nothing in these Terms limits a mandatory statutory consumer right.
If you believe you have a statutory right of withdrawal or refund, contact us at jakubk@fastmail.com.
8. Prohibited content
You may not submit content that contains or promotes:
- pornography or explicit sexual content;
- sexual services or solicitation;
- sexually explicit links, invitations or groups;
- child sexual abuse or exploitation;
- illegal activity;
- fraud, scams or phishing;
- malware or malicious software;
- threats or encouragement of violence;
- hateful or discriminatory content;
- serious harassment or abuse;
- defamatory content;
- spam or unsolicited advertising;
- impersonation intended to deceive;
- content that infringes another person's intellectual-property, privacy, personality or other legal rights;
- links intended primarily to promote inappropriate, malicious or prohibited content;
- attempts to bypass moderation or technical restrictions.
You may not use the Service to interfere with its operation, including through malicious automated requests, scraping that exceeds ordinary browsing, attempts to bypass limits, or unauthorised access.
9. Automatic moderation
Messages may be automatically scanned before publication.
Our moderation systems may check for prohibited language, sexual or adult content, malicious or inappropriate links, spam, abuse and other potentially prohibited material.
A message that is clearly acceptable may be automatically approved.
A message that appears suspicious or potentially inappropriate may be placed into pending review.
Pending messages may be reviewed manually by the Operator.
Automatic moderation is not perfect. We may therefore review, approve, reject, hide or remove content at our discretion.
10. Pending messages
A message pending moderation may appear on the public wall in a blurred or otherwise obscured form.
The public may see that a contribution exists and that its message is awaiting review, but the original unapproved message will not be publicly displayed.
Pending content may display a general explanation such as:
"This note is being reviewed because it may contain inappropriate content."
The specific moderation rule, detected word, moderation score or other internal moderation information will not necessarily be disclosed publicly.
11. Moderation and removal
We may refuse, delay, edit for formatting, hide, reject or permanently remove any submitted name or message if we believe that:
- it violates these Terms;
- it may violate applicable law;
- it infringes another person's rights;
- it creates a security risk;
- it creates a legal or reputational risk;
- it is spam or manipulation;
- it otherwise does not fit the Service.
We do not guarantee that every submitted message will be published.
If a message is rejected or removed, the related contribution remains recorded unless we separately issue a refund.
12. Public notes
If you submit a name or message, you understand that an approved version may be publicly visible to anyone using the internet.
It may be copied, indexed, cached or shared by third parties, including search engines.
Do not submit anything that you do not want to become public.
You remain responsible for the content you submit.
13. Your representations
By submitting a name or message, you represent that:
- you have the right to submit and publish the content;
- the content does not knowingly infringe another person's rights;
- the content complies with applicable law;
- you are not misleadingly impersonating another person;
- information you provide to identify yourself is accurate to the extent reasonably required.
14. Licence to submitted content
By submitting a name or message, you grant the Operator a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, adapt for technical formatting and wall display, and publicly display that content as part of HELP ME RETIRE.
This licence continues for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, promote or archive the Service.
You may request removal of your message by contacting jakubk@fastmail.com.
Removing a message does not automatically refund the related contribution.
15. Rights complaints
If you believe that a message infringes your copyright, trademark, privacy, personality or other legal rights, contact:
Please include:
- your name and contact details;
- the relevant note or page;
- an explanation of the alleged infringement;
- confirmation that the information provided is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
We may temporarily hide the relevant content while reviewing the complaint.
16. No advice
Nothing on HELP ME RETIRE constitutes legal, tax, investment, financial or retirement advice.
The appearance of a message on the wall does not represent the Operator's endorsement or opinion.
Links to third-party websites are provided at the user's own risk. Those websites have their own terms and privacy policies.
17. Availability and changes
HELP ME RETIRE is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent permitted by law.
The Service may occasionally be unavailable, inaccurate, interrupted or delayed.
We may change, suspend or discontinue any feature, including:
- the retirement goal;
- the wall;
- the archive;
- donation functionality;
- moderation rules;
- visualisations;
- forecasts;
- other features of the Service.
We may also update these Terms.
The date at the top of these Terms will indicate when they were last updated.
Changes will not retroactively alter a completed payment except where required by law or necessary to address a legal or security issue.
18. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
This includes liability that applicable law requires us to retain, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury where applicable, and mandatory consumer rights.
Subject to applicable law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, loss of goodwill, data loss or substitute services.
For business users, to the extent permitted by law, our total liability relating to a contribution will not exceed the amount paid for that contribution.
19. User responsibility
You are responsible for content you submit and for complying with these Terms and applicable law.
If a claim or loss arises from your submitted content, unlawful use of the Service, payment fraud, unauthorised chargeback, or infringement of another person's rights, you may be responsible for resulting losses and reasonable costs to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in this section limits mandatory consumer protections.
20. Complaints
You may send a complaint about the Service to:
Please include your name, contact details, relevant payment information where applicable, and a description of the issue.
We will review complaints without undue delay.
A complaint is separate from exercising any statutory withdrawal or other consumer right.
21. Out-of-court consumer dispute resolution
If you are a consumer and we cannot resolve a dispute directly, you may seek out-of-court dispute resolution through the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (Česká obchodní inspekce), where applicable.
The relevant authority is:
Česká obchodní inspekce
Štěpánská 567/15
120 00 Praha 2
Czech Republic
The applicable information and procedure are available from the Czech Trade Inspection Authority.
22. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of protection provided by mandatory consumer-protection rules applicable in your country of residence.
Where legally permitted, disputes involving non-consumer users are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Czech Republic.
23. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
The invalid provision will be replaced or interpreted to the extent necessary to achieve its lawful purpose.
Failure to enforce a provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
24. Third-party services
HELP ME RETIRE relies on third-party services, including payment processing, hosting, analytics and other infrastructure providers.
Those providers operate under their own terms and policies.
We are not responsible for outages, decisions or failures caused solely by third-party providers, subject to applicable law.
25. Entire agreement
These Terms, the Privacy Notice and the information confirmed during checkout form the agreement governing your use of the Service and your contribution, subject to mandatory legal rights.
